It is currently 1:21 AM, and I am approaching my second day of school. I know I shouldn’t be up this late, but I just wanted to post my VOD. I decided when I looked at my subscriptions and saw the new Levi video, I knew I would probably just post it to save time. However, when I watched the video, I was shocked with how real it was. As I watched the video, I though about how obsessed with my blog I’d become. For the past few months, it’s been a ‘quota’ I have to reach, and if I don’t reach it, then I am personally doing something extremely wrong. Anytime I saw the homepage of my blog, I would think “average views per day, 400; quota 16 views per hour” or “high view spike; average views per day 500; quota 21 views per hour.” It’s truly sickening how obsessive I’d become with this blog. Then one day, I reminded myself that during my first week on this blog, I’d gotten 16 views, and I’d be able to live with that. The thing is, I can’t even imagine the stress those same quotas and numbers put on youtubers. When I write, I sometimes write about my life, but I also write about videos and music and crazy people and everything in between; with youtube, the central objective is to let the world know who you are and about your life. When you think about it, I don’t actually let you into my life; when youtubers make videos, they let you into their world. It can take a personal toll on a youtuber when they don’t get attention or views; it can make them think they’re not good enough or not special enough to have the number of views that people so similar to them have. The point is that everyone on the internet with a certain obsession, whether it be blogging or making videos or even just making friends, needs to take a step back from their computer and say to themselves that they don’t need any of it. If every personal computer in the world crashed tomorrow, and every website on the internet disappeared, we would live. We would be okay. And whether we got a new computer or not, we could live a great life without it. Technology is not a necessity. So, I’m going to try to drop my obsession with the internet, and I encourage you to do the same. Sorry about the random, VOD, rant; I was very inspired by Levi.
p.s. So sorry listen to this hasn’t been up in so long. I got kinda lazy. This hasn’t been as long as it could’ve been either. The segment will be back to normal sooner than later, I promise. xoxoxo
Anyone that knows me, at all, knows that I’m a total music geek, and always have been. A piano geek, Maroon 5 geek, indie geek; you name it, I’ve been there. It’s a gift and a curse (mostly a curse,) but lately I’ve been mostly a band geek. This year, I’ve volunteered to play percussion more than I should’ve, but I really can’t help it. I love playing percussion.
Anyway, to explain the flowers, band has been the only thing that has kept me remotely sane lately. I’ve been doing a lot of High School gigs for my school, and I actually got a lot of recognition today. I got a bouquet of flowers and a singing card, which sang one of my random favorites, “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and a round of applause by a crowd of people that may or may not have known who exactly I was. As little of a reward as this seems, I almost cried, I’m not even kidding you. I never thought I would become that good at being a band geek, but here I am. I’ve played nearly every High School concert, some at the last minute, and I’m proud of it. My life gets really hard, and I have horribly bad days, which is why I want to share this moment with all of you. All 1,000 of you! I love you guys, love the internet, love wildflowers, and love band.
Hi Everyone! Here to tell you guys about some new segments of my blog that are about to jump off, starting today.
Crazier than Me- Of course. You know the deal! I choose people/things that are crazier than me, and explain.
Origami Daily- For my own good, I take a picture of one Origami construction everyday, tell what it is (and maybe how to make it!), then throw it away.
Listen Up!- A segment with known and unknown musicians that will, with any luck, lead you down a spiraling road to obsession.
Daily Video- Any video from Youtube that I like enough to put on this blog.
Hello, Internet. My user-name is pnogal, and I am extremely bored and am the only one not doing anything over spring break, which is why I want to blog my way out of my tangled web of life.
First, I should probably explain the user-name, since I know if you say it, you’re gonna say it wrong. But it’s a rant to tell people. Anyway, my user-name is pnogal, meaning piano girl. I’ve been playing the piano since I was three years old, going in and out of lessons, but when I was younger and was getting brand new e-mail addresses, I decided it would be my alias. Since then, it has been the bud of many jokes between my friends, and much confusion from random e-mailers, but I like trying to stick with who I was when I was young.
I told you it’d be a rant.
Anyway, second of all, I should probably explain why I blog, other than my spring break predicament. I’ve started blogging because it’s always been a secret ambition of mine. When I first started using the Internet, my dad always used to tell me about how people became millionaires by venting to the world on their own little blog planets. It sounded like gibberish to me back then, but I kept that in mind as my weekly Internet usage quickly jumped from 3 hours a week to 12 hours a week- craziness. Soon, I became obsessed with the Internet, Perez Hilton, you tube, and everything else the Christian Conservatives hate about the ‘new’ millennium.
Before you start spamming me about the whole ‘Christian Conservatives’ thing, I have to let you know that I’m a Christian, but I’m confused with how judgemental the people in my religion are seeming to get. As a spiritual being, I believe in God, but I also believe that if you live a good life, you should go to your heaven, whatever that may be. And on that note- who decided that God doesn’t have a sense of humor? People keep going off the hammer about religious jokes (Kathy Griffin,) that are CLEARLY said for comedic effect! Am I wrong to believe that Jesus could laugh? Does that make me “un-Christian”?
Continuing, I got obsessed with the Internet, as well as fascinated by the ever-changing classifications of the ‘pop’ music genre. And here I am today, blogging because I know someone will want to listen to me. Anyway, I’m gonna go ahead and watch some Family Guy. I’ll probably start blogging daily, if I can, but who knows?
