Playlist of Addiction: Holiday (okay, mostly Christmas, but I really don’t care) Edition

1. “Winter Song” br Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson- A truly beautiful song from two breathtaking musicians.
2. “Twelve Days of Christmas” performed by Straight No Chaser- Absolutely hilariously and professionally done. This was the first track I’d heard by their current group, and it blew me away!
3. “Carol of the Bells” arranged by George Winston for piano- If you’ve never heard this arrangement of the song, then I definitely recommend you enjoy it. “Carol of the Bells” can be so monotonous and sometimes even frightening (being one of very few minor Christmas tunes) every year, but this arrangement of the song is very delicate and gentle as opposed to the common abrasive and loud “COTB”.
4. “Killing Myself for Christmas” by Sick Puppies- Horribly hilarious is really all I can say to describe this song. Thank you, Olivia.
5. “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey- She can’t stop making money from this song, but it’s amazing!

I realize that throughout this lovely hiatus I’ve done a great job of disappointing my frequent readers. this week will be no exception, as I am entering semester finals week. I’m finally happy. I’m legitimately happy with my life. I know my life isn’t perfect, and I know I’m not perfect, but I’m perfectly okay with that realization…

CRAZIER THAN ME: The Olympics*

So, the summer Olympics have begun, and everything’s gone crazy. First of all, Beijing isn’t the best place to have the Olympics right now, I think we can all agree. It’s so polluted in China that their air pollution floats over the Pacific Ocean, into California! Second of all, why is our country doing the Olympics? Granted, it’s a tradition and all that jazz and sports and the pride of a nation and blah blah blah, but let’s be real; this country is about $482 BILLION in DEBT. There is absolutely no way we are gaining any money doing the Olympics. I mean, we may not be losing a lot, but seriously, at this rate, we might as well just start living off Maruchan right now. But I will be lax, athletes do need a bit of glory, since there aren’t really many things above doing the Olympics. I think it’s safe to say that after the Olympics are over, athletes either coach a sports team, buy a sports bar, or train at a gym; maybe all three. But considering the fact that gold metal isn’t even really a legitimate ‘gold’ metal anymore (mostly gold plated silver), the Olympics are crazier than me.
