I made a playlist on my iPod of all of the songs I love, and I can’t stop listening to it. I’ve written about most of them, but I’m just putting them all on one post for fun. The playlist is always on shuffle, and is generally amazing. It’s also an iMix on iTunes, so if you search “Totally fly Flying Kites”, it should be there!
- “That’s Not My Name” by The Ting Ting’s- Is it possible to have a sexual attraction to a song? I think it is.
- “Ottoman” by Vampire Weekend
- “Time to Pretend” by MGMT
- “Womanizer” by Britney Spears- I think I’m the only person in America who hasn’t gotten tired of this song.
- “Human” by The Killers
- “Give it 2 Me” by Madge (Madonna, deary)- So, she’s as old as Methuselah. Doesn’t mean she can’t serve up a hell of a dance tune. Queen of pop + Pharell = Earth Shattering.
- “No More Gas” mixed by DJ Earworm
- “One of the Boys” by Katy Perry
- “Happy Together” remade by The Flobots – The bad sound quality and weird keyboards in this song tend to give me remission, but I still love it!
- “Untouched” by The Veronicas
- “United State of Pop” mixed by DJ Earworm- DJ Earworm rocks my world, because not only does he give away his mixes for free on his website, but his mixes also integrate many different genres and are incredibly daring and bold.
- “Bassment Party” by The Cool Kids
- “Xavia” by The Submarines
- “Circus” by Britney Spears
- “Middle Management” by Bishop Allen- This song is so upbeat and sweet, I can’t help but listen to it!
- “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse- Incredibly awesome song, which has been used on numerous TV shows, including most of my favorites. Includes an ingenius beat.
- “Dynamo of Volition” by Jason Mraz
- “‘After Hours” by We Are Scientists- I was originally introduced to this song through Akiva Schriver’s amusing video for it, but I came to love it through the “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” soundtrack.
- “Make it Mine” by Jason Mraz
- “Butterfly” by Jason Mraz- This song is kind of dirty in an unconventional way, but I love the addictive melody and the amazing guitar licks.
- “Mudhouse/Gypsy MC” by Jason Mraz- I recently titled a note on Facebook “I’d like to give a shout out to all my VIP’s”. I love this song.
- “Electric Feel” by MGMT- I love this song because I was kind of scared by the video at first, then I listened to the song and I said “Wait, this is totally my life”.
IMPORTANT NOTE: On iTunes, DJ Earworm’s mixes and “Happy Together” by the Flobots are not included. DJ Earworms mixes are available, free from source right here, and the Flobots cover is found here.

The teenager’s paradise (especially for someone who goes to an all-girls school)! I’ve been going to high school football games lately, and all I can say is that football is the last thing on your mind. Keep in mind, I’m obviously not an expert at being an extrovert, but there are some rules that I like to follow when going to football games.
- Don’t Hang Out with the Same Group ALL NIGHT When there are tons of people at football games, it’s easy to get tired of hanging out with the same old group. Plus, games are usually for socializing! It can get boring clinging to people.
- Talk, and not about Just talk to people. Many people just like to talk about talking to someone (usually the other person is VERY attractive), but at the end of the night, you don’t know if you’ll ever see them again. So, don’t talk about talking to them, just hurry up and do it!
- Don’t Look to Fall In Love Okay, so they are great places to make good friends and possibly meet people you like. But don’t go to a football game looking to find some guy you’re gonna tell your children about 30 years from now; (made-up statistic alert) 90% of the time, it’s not gonna happen.
- Learn how to Start a Conversation I will say this once and only once, so shut your lips and learn; “Hey, my name is…” is NEVER a good conversation starter!!! I can not stress this enough! “My name is…” is perfectly okay for a parent teacher conference, but not for a football game. One amazingly slick conversation starter is “what’s the score” or “who do you think is the best player” or something relating to the game (take note if you’re talking to a guy). If he’s clearly not paying attention to the game, then don’t try to make him. Find something else (believe me, there’ll be SOMETHING to talk about).
- Try to Learn the Game & RESPECT THE BAND Let me be perfectly honest: I don’t know a lot about football. But when people cheer, I like to know why. So I try my hardest to sit and watch the game for at least a few minutes before walking around. As for the band part, show them some respect. They’ve gotta play all night, just like the team. PLUS, football players don’t have to worry about broken reeds or cold instruments, dynamics, reading music or anything like that. Football players just have to make sure they haven’t broken anything by the end of the night. So, please, for me, show those band geeks some major respect; they deserve it.

I just got back from a marching band competition (which was AWESOME!), and I decided I would compose a full band piece for a marching band, consisting of popular songs of 2008. Thoughts?

So, school is just starting, and my classes are pretty darn awesome. You might be wondering what my classes are, since I spend practically all of my time on the computer and the rest of my time studying. Well, I’m taking world literature, world history, advanced geometry, introduction to chemistry and physics, latin, band, “digital images, text, and sounds”. All of my teachers are kind of, well, kind of crazy, but it’s okay, because they’re that great kind of crazy that keeps you entertained and keeps you from falling asleep in the middle of class. My ICP teacher is really cool, but an organization FREAK, which may mean trouble in the near future. My geometry teach is loved by everyone, including myself. I mean, I know I’m bad at math, but seriously, she’s the best. My Latin teach is pretty much a bonafide superstar, since she’s written so many books and stuff. If I accomplish half as much as she has in her life, well, I’ll have lived a happy life. My World Lit teacher/adviser is the craziest of them all; she’ll probably be the focus of an upcoming “Crazier than Me” segment, which’ll be really fun. My world history teacher seems nice enough, but seems kind of, um, strict. She’s really short (shorter than my sister), but seems okay. My digitextsounds teach is my only male teacher, and he seems kinda bored with his life, but he’s making it last while he can, which is nice. He’s also a geogami nerd, which is refreshing, because I thought I was the only one
And, as usual, band is band; extremely fun!
So, just so i can see what my readers are thinking, how was your first day of school? Were your teachers crazier than mine? Dare you to tell me in a comment
Peace

I’m finally happy. I’m legitimately happy with my life. I know my life isn’t perfect, and I know I’m not perfect, but I’m perfectly okay with that realization…
That football game was horrible. 52-0?!?!? Could that be any more devastating? Pitiful…
Jazz music is way more modern than people think it is….
What is dot dot dot? I think it’s just a cool way of kind of ending a conversation. It seems like wherever there’s a dot dot dot, there should be a long pause, and someone should just say, “so, yeah”…
If only our school had a marching band; just a small one, just for kicks….
I like him… and? What now? I don’t know exactly what to do, because he won’t get out of my head. He’s not gorgeous, and I’m too shy to just talk to him, but I can’t just let him hypnotize me. I’m falling in like with him, and I barely even know him! I’m going crazy over this guy…
She lied to me in a text message! How pathetically blunt…
Biggest turn-off? Uncontrollable flatulence…
I love the timpani. If I could do something for one day, I would just play the timpani to my favorite songs. It’s such an amazingly loud, underrated, and amazing instrument.
It’s hard out here for an insomniac….
Are we the same person?!?!? It seems like it…
Coldplay has the coolest percussive instruments in “Viva La Vida.” They have a bell, they have the timpani, they have it all…
I haven’t made any posts today… I bet this will be my worst day in a while… 450 views?!?! I love the internet…
I don’t think anyone really LOVES Rihanna’s music. I mean, yeah, there are those few that always get stuck in your head when they’re popular, but once you really listen to them, they all blend together like too many colors and too much water on a canvas.Eventually, at the end of the day, it’s all just pop music…
How much can one, single human being love Matt Nathanson? I’m just wondering…
I won’t call them copycats; they’re just inspired….
The woman looked at me today, as though she thought I was going to steal something. I mean, I’m black, but come on people. Try harder to hide your racist fears….
Gavin DeGraw’s songs get more annoying the more you listen to them….
Maroon 5’s new video is only so-so… Kind of disappointing….
I need to stop obsessing about this guy… We all know I’m saving myself for another band geek! I’m soooo peculiar….
I love my lovelies!

Anyone that knows me, at all, knows that I’m a total music geek, and always have been. A piano geek, Maroon 5 geek, indie geek; you name it, I’ve been there. It’s a gift and a curse (mostly a curse,) but lately I’ve been mostly a band geek. This year, I’ve volunteered to play percussion more than I should’ve, but I really can’t help it. I love playing percussion.
Anyway, to explain the flowers, band has been the only thing that has kept me remotely sane lately. I’ve been doing a lot of High School gigs for my school, and I actually got a lot of recognition today. I got a bouquet of flowers and a singing card, which sang one of my random favorites, “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and a round of applause by a crowd of people that may or may not have known who exactly I was. As little of a reward as this seems, I almost cried, I’m not even kidding you. I never thought I would become that good at being a band geek, but here I am. I’ve played nearly every High School concert, some at the last minute, and I’m proud of it. My life gets really hard, and I have horribly bad days, which is why I want to share this moment with all of you. All 1,000 of you! I love you guys, love the internet, love wildflowers, and love band.

My cousin Taylor is awesome at Rock Band! He got an 100% playing “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys on the drums! He’s very god at playing the drums!
