PLAYLIST OF ADDICTION

September 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

How about we rename this segment the “every-day-but-sunday” segment? I KNOW I missed Sunday, yet again. I was really busy Monday & really lazy Tuesday, so gimme a break of that Kit Kat bar. Also, no explanations today; there are people to dream about being with. ;)

  1. “Fall For You” by Secondhand Serenade
  2. “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s
  3. “The Way I Was” by Maroon 5
  4. “You Picked Me” by A Fine Frenzy
  5. Anything by Matt Nathanson. Just, choose anything.

PLAYLIST OF ADDICTION: Crush Edition (I know… I missed Sunday… AGAIN)

September 22, 2008 · 1 Comment

So, every once in a while, it’s normal for girls and guys to have crushes; predictably in high school, but there are other times too! Anyway, I know now is the time of the school year for crushes, as I happen to have one myself (shhhhh… ;) ) and I know I’m not alone! Here are a few songs that will make you think of that secretly special someone.

  1. “Infatuation” by Maroon 5- Oh, yes; how I’ve come to know and love this song. i first bought it as a presale bonus track from their “IWBSB4L” album, and I started thinking “why isn’t THIS on the album?!?!” Well, oddly enough, it was released for their B-side album! I just can not get enough of this song. I have more of an infatuation for this song than I do for my crush (which is very strange… very, very disconcerting…).
  2. “When You Were Young” by The Killers- This seems almost like the kind of song you’ll listen to 20 years from now and cry about; it’s so heartwarming. Basically, this is an overall great song to listen to on any occasion; I mean, it couldn’t exactly be categrized as a love song, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
  3. “You and I Both” by Jason Mraz- Ultimate awesomeness as far as love songs. This is really, really prime property (haha- meaning rarely great).
  4. “Time to Pretend” by MGMT- This song is set-up as a sort of timeline for life without a wanted love. It seems almost cryptically lovely, but it really is amaing in that same context.
  5. “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová- I have to say, this one takes the cake. THIS IS THE BEST LOVE SONG EVER WRITTEN.

PLAYLIST OF ADDICTION (to tide you over)

September 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yes, I know very well that it isn’t Sunday. Yet, I want to make a playlist of addiction with songs that help me relax; my favorite love song, my favorite lullaby, my favorites. Enjoy.

  1. “Sleeping to Dream” by Jason Mraz- How could I possibly say how much I love this song? This is my favorite lullaby; whenever I have a ton of homework, this song puts my mind in a state of pure imagination (whoever remembers where that came from gets 20 bonus points). On Jason’s Selections for Friends album, I must admit, I didn’t really like the songs recorded at Montalvo as much as I like the songs performed at Schubas, but this song was just pure gold.
  2. “Quando, Quando, Quando” by Michael Buble featuring Nelly Furtado- First of all, let’s get something striaght; I spelled Quando correctly. A lot of artist are making their song titles sort of ‘inside jokes’ by spelling them incorrectly. However, despite the bad spelling, this is my favorite love song. One quote that always sticks out in my head when I listen to this was Nelly Furtado’s quote from her ‘promiscuous’ heyday, when she said that she didn’t really want to do pop forever; this song proves that she doesn’t have to. Two of my favorite Canadians colaborated on this lovely jazz song. It makes my heart float.
  3. “As Things Collide” by Maroon 5- Probably my 2nd favorite love song, only because of how perfect the chorus is. It’s just SO perfect. “I’ve spoken to all of the other angels; they don’t know what to do. And I agree with them whole heartedly, I do.” Guys, take note; these are the kinds of things girls like me wanna hear. Talk about angels and our perfection, and we’ll be like butter (whoever gets THAT reference gets 200 bonus points. “Like a big stick of butter.”)
  4. “London Bridges” by This Is Ivy League- No, it’s not a Fergie cover. Yes, it is amazing. it’s just the most carefree song you’ll ever hear (outside of I’m Yours by Jason Mraz- now THAT’S carefree); simple and sweet.
  5. “Happy Together” originally by The Turtles, covered by The Flobots- This song is what I like to call the classic love song, remixed to be a modern love song. Both renditions are absolute genious. I already know that the Flobots are really underrated, so, please my lovelies, try to listen to them; they’re pretty darn awesome.

Who Else Thinks This Is Completely Outta Control?

September 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m a freshman in High School, and this is my homework count for the weekend:

  • Latin Derivatives
  • Latin Minutae
  • Latin Worksheet
  • Geometry Section 2.1
  • ICP Lab Write-Up (keep in mind, we haven’t actually done a lab yet)
  • ICP Scientific Notation Practice Problems
  • History, pg. 37-53
  • Vocabulary Test for World Literature

May not seem like a lot, but that’s about 10 hours of homework. So, for all of my fellow students, how much homework do YOU have?

How does this sound, fellow Band Geeks?

September 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

I just got back from a marching band competition (which was AWESOME!), and I decided I would compose a full band piece for a marching band, consisting of popular songs of 2008. Thoughts?

Impossible

September 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

This is just an update in the midst of my little hiatus. School sucks, but it’s better than the summertime!

There is someone in my life who requires a lot of attention. She doesn’t really realize it, but she’ll do just about anything for more attention. Now, I have to admit, I ike attention, but I don’t simply go looking for it. I usually get undesired attention, just for doing what I do and being who I am. For some, it’s not that easy. It’s a constant struggle.

These people who require attention usually don’t realize how or why they’re doing it, or, for that matter, that they’re doing it at all. It’s like a nervous, prideful twitch. These are the people whom start drama out of nothing at all. The people whom can’t be happy for you. The people whom seem too selfish to care.

But it’s not selfishness. It’s never really that simple. It’s that somewhere, in their heart of hearts, they truly feel that they can never be important enough or good enough or the best. The thing is, they can be the best if they stop trying so hard and let the attention come to them naturally.

Anyway, ranting is so much fun; my regular readers know I rant regularly. Thank’s to everyone who continues to read my blog through my absence! I’ll be back sooner than you think (I’ll aim around November, but it’ll prolly be mid October when I’m back in the blogging game!) Toodles Poodles!

Broken*

September 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

How you left me broken, I still don’t understand.

I was indestructible before you, and here I stand in pieces.

You hadn’t really made an impact in the big scheme of things. But all you really had to do was look me in the eyes, and I would’ve given in.

I’m not the only one you have that affect on, but that’s exactly what it felt like. When you looked me in the eyes in that crowded hallway, it felt like I was the only one there.

You didn’t have to say anything to make it feel like you’d said everything. But whenever you said something, I felt as though nothing I could say could even compare to any words coming out of your mouth and into my soul.

So how, how in this world, could you leave me broken, just by saying goodbye?

*I wrote this a while ago. It was just sitting in my drafts, so I thought I’d post it. Enjoy!
