LISTEN TO THIS: VAZQUEZ:: Bond

April 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

This British group is a rare pop string quartet. When I think of pop, I tend to think of ditzy singers like Justin Timberfake and the dynamic duo of Ashlee and Jessica Simpson. But to have a girl group that legitimately plays their music and are more than just pretty faces? Sounds oxymoronic, right? Well, this group proved me wrong by mixing amazing strings with awesome percussion to make completely breathtaking music. They manage to make songs with no lyrics, no singers, and turn them into orchestral masterpieces. Vazquez is a more eclectic friend, listening to Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Joe, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, and My Chemical Romance, just to name a few. Vazquez is one of the most honest people I’ve ever met, and has a unique take on everything from politics to pottery, which is what makes her one of my best friends.

CSI Fans, this may be painful…

Lordy lordy...

Gary Dourdan was arrested on Monday, and was in possession of cocaine, ecstasy, and prescription drugs. He was released on a $5,000 bail, and is now back to doing nothing. So sad… He’s crazier than me…

LISTEN TO THIS: RUBBER SHOWER:: Jonezetta

April 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Jonezetta is an indie-rock band that is now a personal favorite. They represent a different kind of indie, that allows them to gravitate towards pop-rock, yet still allows them to express their true genre flexibility. Though the band is an indie-rock group, they’re not afraid to show their soft side with acoustic songs like “Communicate”, “Love That Carries Me”, and “Imagination”. The band’s acoustic sets are some of the best rock acoustic sets I’ve heard lately, as they use superb instrumentation to bring across the raw melodies of the songs. The band is definitely unforgettable. Rubber Shower loves rock music, just as much as MCR Lover, but has more eclectic taste. She gravitates toward bands like My Chemical Romance, Project 86, Captiva, Breaking Benjamin, AFI, All Time Low, Sum 41, Underoath, and Anberlin. She’s a genious and she knows it, but she’s also one of my newer best friends.

The Band Geek, Brightening Your Day

April 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Anyone that knows me, at all, knows that I’m a total music geek, and always have been. A piano geek, Maroon 5 geek, indie geek; you name it, I’ve been there. It’s a gift and a curse (mostly a curse,) but lately I’ve been mostly a band geek. This year, I’ve volunteered to play percussion more than I should’ve, but I really can’t help it. I love playing percussion.

Anyway, to explain the flowers, band has been the only thing that has kept me remotely sane lately. I’ve been doing a lot of High School gigs for my school, and I actually got a lot of recognition today. I got a bouquet of flowers and a singing card, which sang one of my random favorites, “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and a round of applause by a crowd of people that may or may not have known who exactly I was. As little of a reward as this seems, I almost cried, I’m not even kidding you. I never thought I would become that good at being a band geek, but here I am. I’ve played nearly every High School concert, some at the last minute, and I’m proud of it. My life gets really hard, and I have horribly bad days, which is why I want to share this moment with all of you. All 1,000 of you! I love you guys, love the internet, love wildflowers, and love band.

A Gift

LISTEN TO THIS: MCR LOVER:: Dead Poetic

April 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

This rock band from Ohio (go bucks!) sticks with a hard core sound that sets them apart from other rock bands. Reminiscent of bands like 30 Seconds to Mars and Three Days Grace, the group strays away from the norm by turning imaginative beats into rock and roll gold, which is a pretty hard thing to do. Personally, my favorite song by the band, “Glass in the Trees”, has more of an indie-rock feel, but still sticks to the group’s hard-as-nails image. Among MCR lover’s picks were bands like Story of the Year, As I Lay Dying, Escape the Fate, and I Am Ghost. MCR Lover does gravitate towards rock music, but, despite the vice, she’s been one of my best friends. This band is very reminiscent of her taste in rock music.

The Most Random Thought I Have Ever Had

April 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

If there was a movie about a girl struggling with her gambling addiction, I would probably call it, Jenny and the Bets. Think it over, google Elton John, read some past posts, and comment.

NEW RIHANNA: “Take a bow”

April 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Rihanna’s cheating day’s are over! Far from the “Unfaithful” days, this new Rihanna vid has recently debut, and it’s such a hit! I’ve been posting a lot about Rihanna, but this song and video is post-worthy. The song, “Take a Bow”, is such a Dear John letter to every guy that’s cheated. It’s such a good track!
